1 Peter 1:22-25
"Warning: This sermon will stretch you!" - 1 Peter 1:22-25
You know, flexibility and mobility are certainly the rage right now, and I get it! In the absence of moving limbs into extreme positions, they [my limbs and spine] become quite resistant to whole endeavor! They are content to stay within a limited range.
Isn't that ok? Why push things, right? Well, it turns out that decreased mobility leads to disability. When things are tight and stiff and unyielding, there is greater injury and, therefore, pain! And I, for one, do not like pain! You? I needed to be stretched.
It was Pastor Chuck Smith who said, "Blessed are the flexible, for they shall not be broken". If you won't stretch, you just might break!
How about those spiritual muscles? Have they gotten stiff? Has their range and reach become limited? Maybe relational pain has made you more guarded and therefore less flexible -- less willing to stretch out or reach out?
