1 Peter 3:8-12
"The Blessing of Being 'In-Sync'" - 1 Peter 3:8-12 (9:00AM Service)
We have covered some very challenging and occasionally controversial material over the last few messages as we have discussed "submitting" in a variety of social contexts.
Now we come to the final context -- the church! What does it look like to willingly yield to one another in church? The nice thing about this message is that it is for.....everyone! All of God's children! The slave and the master, the husband and the wife!
Peter thinks we should be of "one mind". Ok, but what does that mean, exactly? We will find ourselves discussing the feeling or being in harmony or "in sync" with the people around us, and with God!
If you have ever started a new group activity and joined an existing group of some sort, then you know the awkward feeling of being out of sync and not really knowing what happens next! That is a horrible feeling.
Agreed?
Well, that is how "church" feels for almost everyone! No, not so much the liturgy and the order of service -- those can be intimidating enough. Rather - Peter is addressing the inner attitudes and the way we handle relationships!
What attitudes and relational skills do we need to learn and adopt to be "in sync" with the life of the church? How does this connect to "loving life"? If you have felt "out of place" at church, or have struggled with enjoyable relationships, then you really need to...
...Come and See!
