"While We Are Waiting....." - 1 Thessalonians 5:12-22

For the last two teachings, we have had our head in the clouds and our minds on heaven, looking for and anticipating the day Jesus will come for His church and bring this phase of life on Earth to a close.

But tomorrow we will bring our focus back to earth and what it means to actually "live ready" as a church! While we are waiting for the Lord, what should church life look like? With fifteen "imperatives" -- strong requests or commands -- Paul speaks to the leaders and the church about their community life.

Beginning with the relationship between leadership and the church body itself, Paul touches on very, very practical topics that are part of daily life as we wait for the Lord. How do we handle problem people? What do we do when people "do us wrong"? How often should we pray? Are we alone to figure out how to live out our faith?

The leaders are responsible to lead the church to do the right things in the right way. I think you might find this to be an extremely practical lesson on church life. While we are waiting for the Lord......
