1 Thessalonians 1:1-5
"Stay the Course" - 1 Thessalonians 1:1-5
1 Thessalonians. It is a beautifully person letter of five chapters that encourages the people in Thessalonica to "stay the course". They really didn't need any new and dazzling information. So much of what they already knew they just needed to keep doing, and more of the same!
This is likely the first letter Paul wrote, and probably dates to about 49-51 AD. The budding young church faced the expected pressures of persecution and yet were still hanging in there! Paul's leadership and intentions had been attacked and some of the letter is meant to remind them of his character and the way he treated them -- with gentleness and care.
You might be excited to know that 1 Thessalonians 4 contains a wonderful teaching about "the Rapture of the church", and chapter 5 gives the believers encouragement about the second coming of Christ.
Overall, 1 Thessalonians is a wonderful and encouraging letter that will be clarifying in its simplicity. In a world where everyone is looking for something new, Paul reminds them, and us, that we already know what to do. All we have to do is "stay the course".
....View and See! And while you are at it.....why not tell a friend.
