"How Spiritual Fire Starts" - 1 Thessalonians 1:6-10

So much of Paul's writing can be deeply theological and loaded with complexity. But not this section. Verses 6-10 introduce us to something special that happened in Thessalonica.

It is tempting to call it a "revival in Thessalonica" but that would not be accurate. That would mean that something that existed had died and then was coming back to life. But this is the first time the teaching of the death and resurrection of Jesus was heard by their ears. It is really a "revival" if I can take that freedom with the language. Something spiritually powerful began in Thessalonica. Spiritual life happened and everything changed.

Have you prayed about revival? Although there are emotions - particularly joy - that accompany a new work of God, the emotions are not the main indicator of revival. What is the process? What is the experience of revival? Oh that God would use CCFluvanna to kindle a fire in our county that spreads! How does it happen? Oh my......you have to....
