"Enough is Enough" - 1 Peter 4:1-6


We now cross the threshold into 1 Peter 4. If you remember, our last passage in 1 Peter 3 was a bit of a challenge -- baptism and the flood and Jesus preaching to disobedient spirits in prison. Really, Peter?


So in this message we move from the obscure to the obvious. We will talk about pressure....social pressure, peer pressure, and cultural pressure. 1 Peter 4:1-6 is loaded, so be ready to be challenged.


Peter uses a very vivid and meaningful illustration of a Roman soldier -- a hoplite. That is a strange word, but full of meaning. When Peter talks about war, it is not an external or literal one.


Against who or what do we struggle? How do we arm ourselves? In the end, Peter is encouraging a church under pressure and is using his best effort to keep them headed in the right direction. So ...
