2 Timothy 1:1-7

"What's Holding You Back?" - 2 Timothy 1:1-7

I believe we are all itching to get into 2nd Timothy! Even if you are not, that is where we wil be heading. It would not be a bad idea to open up your Bible and read the first chapter for yourself!

If you do some reading on your own, what you may not realize is that Paul is writing from a dark and cold prison. In fact, Helga and I had a chance to visit the place from which Paul wrote this letter. Its called the Mamertine prison and its located in Rome.

What you will realize is that Paul is very much alone and knows that his days on earth are numbered. What we have is the final recorded words of one of the most Godly men to ever live. I have to wonder...if you knew you had only a short time to live, and could write a letter to your kids, what would you say?

There is something about the brevity of days that leads to a clarity of words, don't you think? And for the present, Paul knows that he will not be around to guide, encourage, and support this young pastor. For things to continue, Timothy can't hold back, and neither can you.
