1 Timothy 2:1-7

So, where do we start?" - 1 Timothy 2:1-7

When is the last time you read something in the Bible that you knew you had to respond to? Does that make sense? You read it and it was so convicting and you just knew that you needed to make a change. Maybe it set things on a new course for you? Maybe the change was temporary and died out quickly? Or maybe you just ignored the impulse altogether. It happens sometimes.....

Well, now that Paul has stated and re-stated his charge to young and timid Timothy, he gets down to the business of setting things straight in the church. Things had gotten pretty tangled up in Ephesus, and it could be overwhelming to even begin untangling the mess! Where should a young pastor start? If things in your home, work, life, or country are a mess, where should you start? Paul makes it clear and easy.

Before wasting a lot of time on things that are not high priority, it's nice to start with something that will have the greatest impact. It's even nicer when that thing is a simple fix!

If you have gotten off track and you don't know where to turn, or where to start, or even how to begin to untangle the mess you are in, then I think tomorrow's passage may have the same impact on you that it has had on me. Yes.....this is one of those passages that made me stop, repent, and rethink my own priorities and practices.

You know you can read 1 Tim 2:1-7 and easily find out where to start. But there is just no substitute for the "corporate discovery" as we open the Word of God and read together. Tomorrow we will discover "where to start", if you are willing to....
