1 Timothy 1:12-17
"Amazing Grace" - 1 Timothy 1:12-17
Some passages in the Bible are not as easy or enjoyable to preach as others. All Scripture is God-inspired. All Scripture is profitable. But not all Scripture is as enjoyable to proclaim. The "vice lists" - those lists of sinful human behaviors that Paul delineates in his letters - are not as enjoyable to proclaim. They are convicting, they make people uncomfortable, they are necessary, but they are not meant to stand alone.
Although for the sake of time I ended the sermon at 1 Tim 1:11 last week, the letter would have been read in one sitting. That means they would have read the "vice list" that included, slave traffickers, liars, murderers, and homosexuality, and then immediately read the section we will read next!
1 Timothy 1:12-17 is a soaring joy to preach. Instead of highlighting the extent of man's sin, it highlights the extent of God's grace! I will never tire of proclaiming the hope of the grace of our God! The passage is filled with truth about the kind of person that God chose when He tapped the Apostle Paul, saved him, and put him into the ministry. We learn a bit about Paul, but more importantly we learn about our God! THE only God.....and what His grace does, and what it produces.
If you are a person who resonates deeply with Amazing Grace, or you know someone who feels or thinks that God could never use them and would never accept them....then get a group together and watch or share this video , because every sinner needs to....
