Colossians 1:21-29
Preparing for the Olympics, men and women train and prepare, then they have to travel to compete. Because they are amateur athletes, they do it at their own expense, many working full time and training around work and family. Why do they do it?
I suppose there is not one single answer to that question. But I know that at least one thing on every athlete's mind is the hope of glory. There are expectations and anticipations. Will they perform their best? Will the judges give high scores? Will they make it to the podium and receive honor and glory for themselves and their country?
Or, will there be disappointment? Will there be injury or mistake or fatigue? Will the performance fall short. What is it about us that hungers for that approval, that respect, that honor, that glory. Is it in you too? Is there a sense that we fear not measuring up and being a disgrace?
It is one thing to think about this on a human level, but another thing altogether on a spiritual level! If living life were like the Olympics, and God was the judge scoring us, how has your performance been? Are you a perfect 10? Is God applauding you? When you imagine standing before Him, are you confident of His acceptance and approval or do you stand as a disgrace of a human being, sure that He is disapproving and disappointed.
Well.....there is a really awesome and important secret about life and God that Paul wants you to know, and it relates to God's opinion of you! How can I pleasurably anticipate seeing God face to face? What will I feel? I suppose that depends on if you know the secret! Hahaha! Gotcha. If you want to know the secret, then.....
....View and See!
