Going the Wroooong Way" - 2 Peter 2:10-22

I don't know if you have seen the '80s movie, Planes, Trains, and Automobiles, but it turns out there is a classic scene that pertains to our sermon from 2 Peter, chapter 2.

In the clip, actors John Candy and Steve Martin are cruising along in their car, unaware that they are on the wrong side of the highway with two tractor trailers coming straight for them. A car on the right side of the highway tries to warn them -- "You are going the wrooong way."

Oblivious to their situation, and therefore dismissing the warnings as if the others are themselves crazy, they press on, certain they are doing just fine and don't need any unsolicited help. Until.....

Until.....the lights come on. The lights, that is, of the oncoming, gigantic, trucks in the same lane and coming right for them.

Well, 2 Peter 2 is a lengthy exposè of false teachers, peddling heresy and using people for their own profit. It is a stunningly uncompromising description of who they really are, what they do, and what they should expect.

In short, they have chosen to go the wrong way and, in their arrogance, believe they will get away with it!

Will they? What are their behaviors? What should they expect? And what does this have to do with "buffet Christianity"...
