"Can I really trust the Teacher?" - 2 Peter 2:1-3

We will continue in our study of 2 Peter, starting in ch 2, verse 1.

I think we can all agree that trust -- or distrust -- is a huge societal issue. We can't trust institutions. We can't trust other people. We can't trust the government. We can't trust the email or text communications that tell us we have an unpaid bill or need to clear up a matter. Scams and exploitation are everywhere.

Aren't we thankful that at least we are safe to trust in church? Peter says...."Don't be so sure."

This entire chapter, Ch 2, is devoted to exposing "false" teachers. They teach alright, but their message is not from God. In fact, it undermines the truth from God and is more harmful than helpful.

What motivates such people to mislead? Surely, no one is silly enough to believe what they say, right? Why would God allow this to go on among His children?

This is where we start the discussion. In a world of growing deception and "deepfakes" and scams, we need to be on our toes more than ever. How can we sniff out a false teacher?
