1 John 1:1-4

"The Real Deal" - 1 John 1:1-4 with Intro

After spending time with the Apostle Peter, reading both of his letters, we get to hear from the Apostle John. While Peter might be known as "the apostle with the foot-shaped mouth", John is considered the apostle of......do you know???......love! 

In this message we will introduce ourselves to the author and audience and the big picture of 1 John. We will discover that the word....love [and related words]...appears a whole lot in this five chapter letter. Can you guess just how many times?

Why is John writing? He tells us a few reasons why in the body of the letter. It isn't because there is something they don't know, but because they already do know. So then, what's the problem?

Roughly sixty-ish years after the resurrection and ascension of Jesus, and with lots of "new insights" and philosophical ideas to muddy the simplicity of Christ, we see trouble on two fronts. Compromise and Confidence.

There are people who should be confident in their walk and are not. And there are others who are confident that should not be! In other words, some are the real deal Christians, and others are fakes and liars. The real challenge is that they are deceived.

How can we spot someone who is the real deal? Am I the real deal? The answer may surprise you if you...
