"Here Today, Gone Tomorrow..." - 1 John 2:18-21

The world is confusing enough. It's hard when church is also confusing. So we are appreciating John's simple and clear approach to recognizing who is the "real deal" and who is not!

Can you think of someone who used to be following Jesus, participating in church life, and maybe even serving in some important capacity, but now they are not? What's that all about? What happened?

This is not a new phenomenon. In the first century, people had ulterior motives for participating in church. They were in the church one day, and gone the next. I don't know about you, but my first response is to feel abandoned and insecure. "What's wrong with me that you left? What's wrong with us that we could not make you stay?"

John has a vastly different perspective that has been so helpful to me over the years, watching people come.....and go. I think Covid created an easy "jumping off" point for many who were.... well... only attending church out of habit.

What does John make of this? How did he understand it? How did he explain it? And what does all of this have to do with The Antichrist? Oh yeah.....that comes up tomorrow too! I hope are hungry enough to...
