1 John 2:7-11

"Sooooo....what's new?" - 1 John 2:7-11

What's new?? Was Solomon right when he said there was nothing new under the sun? Have you tried some new things, learned a new skill, heard a new concept on YouTube or Tik Tok?

I would be lying if I said that John was always very easy to understand. He is not. Although in some ways, he is very clear and decisive as he presents clear contrasts -- old and new, light and dark, love and hate -- in other ways we have to do our best to decipher what he is communicating.

For all of our advancements in science and technology, have we really made any groundbreaking discoveries? We can do brain scans and see which areas of the brain are activated during activities or during dreaming. We know how our brains work neurologically and electrically -- and we understand better the role of neurotransmitters and electrolytes in brain activity.

And yet.....the basis of human relationship, psychology, mental health and well being has never been overturned. In fact, the more we know, the more we confirm the things we already know.

Soooo, is anything new? What is that old truth that is as new as ever? 

In today's message we will talk about what we already know, but need to be reminded of! Grab the kids, invite the neighbors, and...
