1 John 3:1-3

"DOES GOD, THE FATHER, LOVE ME?" - 1 John 3:1-3

Our author, John the apostle, is "beside himself" with something. He starts his sentence with "behold!" -- an imperative form of "to see". In other words, he is saying, "You have got to see this!"

What is he so excited about? Well, it has to do with God's love -- the Father's love.

If I asked you, "How did Jesus show His love to us?", I can bet you would mention the cross, His death, and or His sacrifice in your answer.

But what about the Father? Did He hang on a cross? No, He didn't. We know He loves the world, general, because He gave His Son - John 3:16.

Is there a practical, experiential way that God the Father shows His love? I mean, I think He loves me, but how can I be sure? And...what is the inevitable result of discovering God's love for you?
