"A Psalm for the Elderly" - Psalms 70-72

We will be teaching from Psalms, 70-72 with reflections about our time on earth.

While Psalm 70 is very brief, and Psalm 72 celebrates the blessings of a great king, Psalm 71 provides some reflections of old age.

Walking with the Lord is not a sprint, but a life-long marathon. The Psalmist, whoever it is, has some interesting reflections about the role God has played in his life from birth to old age. Life has been challenging, but the hope of the Psalmist inspires!

Is it possible that people lower their expectations of God as they get older? Is the impression that we can coast across the finish line? Is the Psalmist hoping for a better golf score or just to be left alone?

I must admit that I was more than a little inspired by Psalm 71. In a world where the old criticize the weakness of the young, and the young scoff at the weakness of the old, Psalm 71 gives some nuggets for both old and young alike.

What inspiring truths await?

Come and See....
