"Faith in Crisis" - Psalms 73 - 74

From this point on, we will be studying from the third portion of the Book of Psalms, as we look at Psalms 73 and 74. A man named Asaph is the prominent author and the subject matter of this section wrestles to understand the ways of God with His own people and with His enemies.

Psalm 73 is a jewel in the crown of the Psalms. I have to admit that Psalm 73 is part of my own spiritual medical kit. Like Band-Aids, Neosporin, and Tylenol, Psalm 73 has helped alleviate my own doubts at various times in my life.

Anyone who has walked with God has, at times, questioned if it is really worth it. Asaph does just that as he really struggles with the prosperity of the wicked. Why is it, that for all of our time and energy and even money given toward the things of God, that it seems like things don't go any better for us?

People who utterly reject God seem to be doing just fine....and even doing better without God than we are with God! What's up with that? They don't spend any time in Bible study, they aren't concerned with loving people, all their money is spent on themselves.....and God seems to bless them while His own people struggle!

I believe right now that there are a great many people who have had this battle secretly raging in their hearts, especially since Covid. "Why bother going to church? I can have Sunday's for myself, I can pursue my interests and my desires and things seem to be no worse than when I was going to church and participating in the life and fellowship!"

It's a dangerous place, and a slippery slope when we start to look longingly and jealously at the "liberty" of the Godless. I love this Psalm because I have been there. All the time and energy of living for God.....is it really worth it? Even if you don't usually come Wed nights, this may be worth a viewing this video to find out, "How does Asaph sort out his doubts and discouragement?"

Well... View and See
