Palm Sunday - Luke 19:11-27

"Palm Sunday: It's not what you think." - Luke 19:11-27

Given that Sunday is "Palm Sunday", we will step out of 1 John and into the Gospel of Luke, Ch 19.

Palm Sunday sets the stage for passion week -- the week that will see Jesus hailed as King, crucified with criminals, and raised in power. Next Sunday is Resurrection Sunday!

The background is Old Testament expectations, fueled by Jesus riding into Jerusalem on a donkey. The atmosphere is electric, and expectations are high. They were believing Jesus would lead them to victory over Roman oppression and restore glory to Israel. And this would happen...NOW!

Using parables, Jesus explains that this is not what they think it is.

We will look at the Parable of the Minas, and see who is paying attention. If the Kingdom is not "now", when is it? And what do we do while we wait?

That will be our discussion for Palm Sunday, so...
