"Who are we forgetting?" - Matthew 1:18-24

After little deliberation, it was clear that we needed to step away to appreciate and ponder the Christmas story a bit more, at this time.

The challenge, spiritually, of Christmas is the tremendous familiarity of the story! We know all the players and we have a picture of the setting. Many of our images of the story have been given to us by Hallmark, and not the Bible. But that is for another time.

Like Mary, I have been pondering these things in my heart today, in a kind of "labor" of my own -- "Lord, what do you want to say to the Church this Christmas?" And as I thought about things, I realized that in all of the flurry of angels and wise men and mangers, and Jesus, someone was missing from my own imagination.

Is it possible that there is someone.....someone vital to the story of Christmas....that we have forgotten? Maybe? Maybe not? Who could it be? I can feel the tension and curiosity. That's why you need to...
