"The Good, The Bad, & The Ugly" - 3 John 1:1-14

More than just a 1967 spaghetti western, "The Good, The Bad, & The Ugly" could summarize 3 John!

Both the movie and our letter highlight three men. However, in 3 John, two guys are "good", and the third is "bad". It's the behavior of the third man that is downright "ugly"!

3 John gives us a window into real church life at the end of the first century. And, guess what? It's not all "halos and hugs". Does that surprise you? If you have ever said, "I wish things were more like the first century church", then you have not read the Bible!

We will face the honest challenge that church people, and church leaders, can act ugly at times. That is a painful reality. On the other hand, one bad apple can't ruin the bunch! John points out two genuine brothers who are truly good guys.

The question we will be left with is NOT, "How do we rid the church of bad apples?" Rather, there is a much more important question we have to ask. What is that question? You have to...
