1 John 4:17-21
"Love, as it was meant to be" - 1 John 4:17-21
Picking up in 1 John 17.....wow. Ok John, so....God is love, and that love became a tangible reality for humans at the crucifixion. God loved me while I was a sinner, and now I am one of His children.
Maybe God the Father was gracious when I was a sinner, but now....as a child, he has higher expectations. He is watching me closely. Now I know better. Now I feel the pressure --- obey, or else. Maybe you remember that as a kid. There was love, but were there times you were afraid?
John is writing to people who were worried about their future. Can they be certain they have done enough to appease God? How will it be when we are face to face on the day when we have to be accountable?
Our emotions tell us a lot about what we believe. What happens when we begin to understand that God's love is different? How does that impact my emotional life? My experience of relationship with God?
If you worry that you haven't done enough or been good enough....if you feel like God loves you but maybe he doesn't like you....if you feel the pressure of being rejected for bad behavior....then you need this next section. It just might change your life if you...
