1 John 4:7-16

"It all comes back to this...." - 1 John 4:7-16

If John is the Apostle of Love...and he is....and 1 John is an appeal for God's children to love one another....and it is....then 1 John 4:7-21 is the epicenter.

This section is packed with love.....literally. On a quick review, I count 27 mentions of love in the 15 verses that lead us to Chapter 5. It is abundantly clear that love.....God's kind of love....is a big deal for John. He wants it to be a big deal for us.

If we let the apostle Paul chime in from 1 Cor 13 -- he says that everything and anything we do is nothing apart from love. Great music, beautiful buildings, historical tradition, compelling teaching, important activities.....are just fillers if there is not a foundation of committed love undergirding it all.

How do we experience the presence of an invisible God? How does He show up for us? Who says love is the right thing to do anyway?

So many questions. So many answers. If you want to know, then...
