Psalms 79-81

"Hanging onto God when things are tough" - Psalm 79-81

Three Psalms on the docket for tonight. One of them written for a feast occasion, but really expresses unrealized potential. The other two were penned in response to very.....very....difficult times. You know those times where things are bad. Really bad. Those are the times when people are prone to give up on God. They are dark times when nothing makes sense and you wonder if God really is out there!

What impresses me about Psalms 79-80 is the fact that, despite to horrific experience, the Psalmist is not turning away from God, but turning TO God! Yes....turning to God and bringing all the pain and all the confusion and all the questions! Why? How long? At the end of the day, Asaph knows that only God can turn things around.....literally!

I know Christmas is just around the corner, and we will step out of the Psalms soon enough to give adequate time to enjoy the Christmas story, but for now, we will grab a few more Psalms.

What was the occasion of the Psalms? How do you hold onto God when he seems to have left you hanging? What do you do with the pain and the confusion? Great questions, so......

View and See....
