2 Thessalonians 1:1-10
"When Life Ain't Fair...." - 2 Thess. 1:1-10
So we begin our verse by verse look at the second letter that Paul wrote the believers in the ancient city of Thessalonica. The whole letter is only three chapters, and meant to be an encouragement to them. And to do so, Paul has to deal with a bad apple that is trying to ruin the whole bunch! And to make things worse, it seems that tensions around their presence and beliefs are growing in their city.
Have you ever said to yourself, or someone else, "Life's not fair!" You work hard, you do your best to do the right thing, you just try to keep your head above water, and things just don't seem to go your way. You thought life as a Christian would be easier, but this Christian thing makes life harder!
Not only to people think your archaic for believing in God, but people that refuse to believe in God seem to make out just fine! Why does God let them get away with it? Why does God let them hurt Him and His children, and not do anything?
In this first section, we are going to get some perspective for times when life ain't fair. Despite their walk with God, the lives of the believers in Thessalonica are getting harder. I would think God would do more to protect His children, right? Tomorrow will not be an exhaustive study of these issues, but we should leave with some encouraging understanding!
If you feel like life ain't fair, then.....
