"The Counterfeit Coming" - 2 Thessalonians 2:9-12

It is both a pleasure and a curse as I think more deeply, than I have before, about how prevalent "fake things" have become. It has been a bit unsettling, if I am truthful!

We live in a new world of technological advancements that may be speeding our own demise. One news article was titled, "Is Fake the New Real?" What a question! Fake audio, fake video, fake Facebook and Instagram profiles, fake products, and more! In our world there exists a whole, evil, undercurrent to counterfeit everything from household items to prescription drugs. Maybe the article is right.

While there has always been "reality", Satan has always attempted to present an alternate, and competing, reality. This is the ultimate and eternally significant deception. Satan's reality is open to anyone that isn't fond of truth. Satan is happy to tell you what you want to hear and to encourage you to think what you want to think.

There has never been a more opportune time on planet earth for a "counterfeit coming". Paul even uses the same Greek word - parousia - that is used of the coming of Jesus! Everything about the Antichrist is meant to mimic the Christ. Power, signs, and wonders, all accompany the false savior.

Are you worried? Are you scared that you might fall prey the the counterfeit? Well, you need not fear! Really? Why not? How can you know you won't get sucked in accidentally? How can you be sure you won't be fooled? That will be the topic of discussion for this message, so take time to...
