Revelation 6:1-17

In this message, we open our Bibles to Revelation 6. The Apostle John is in the throne room in heaven and the slain Lamb - Jesus - that has been standing in the midst, now steps forward to take the scroll from the Father's hand. Now what?

Many people look to science and technology to save us. Others think stricter laws and restraint will solve humanity's problems. We know our planet is a mess, and many scramble to place blame as things just get worse. The sad reality is that things are not getting better, despite our wealth and technology and education. We need look no farther than our morning news to imagine a bleak and godless future.

Beginning with Revelation 6, we get a disturbing picture of what is to come for planet earth just before Jesus returns. Currently God the Father is still maintaining some sense of peace and order on the planet, and the church has some influence. But during this period on the earth, God will allow for people to "have the world they wanted", like a car in which the driver (God) has taken his hand off the steering wheel. The car (earth) will inevitably speed out of control.

Starting with the well-known "four horsemen of the apocalypse", we get heaven's view of life on earth during the "tribulation". The fascinating thing is that our pandemic has given us a unique glimpse into what it will feel like to exist in such a world.

Now is the time to trust God. Now is the time to follow Him. I can't imagine my world without Him!
