Revelation 5:1-7

The Scroll, The Lion, and The Lamb

In Revelation 5 we continue in God's throne room, but the focus starts to narrow. In chapter 4, John gave details about the throne and the one sitting on it. The THRONE was central to the vision.

In chapter 5, the focus moves from the throne to a SCROLL, or book, with seven seals on it. What is the scroll? Good question! That is the question on everyone's mind. The disappointment is that we won't know unless someone can open it.....and the suspense is captivating! Can anyone open it?

The focus shifts again, from the scroll to.....well.....the only one worthy to open it. This is a very special scroll indeed, and John hears that someone can open it! The Lion of the tribe of Judah! Let's hear a roar of relief and let's see this lion!

As John looks to see the Lion.....he sees something else. I can only imagine as he freezes and is bewildered by what he sees. I imagine the scene would be emotionally moving with a mix of pity, and confusion, and hope!
