"Dangerous People" - Jude 1:12-18

 I had planned to just breeze through this section, make a bee-line for the parts where Jude tells us what to do, and finish the letter this weekend!

But as I sat with it, I began to see the value. Jude is called on his most illustrative language to paint vivid word picture after word picture to describe the destructive element in the church. I think he wants them, and us to be able to see the behaviors that make people spiritually dangerous.

Do you think you are a pretty good judge of character? Have you ever been sucker-punched...in church? I don't mean literally, but spiritually -- out of the blue, never-saw-it-coming behavior that blew up the church? And at the center of it a person, or people, you never expected! They are not who you thought they were.

Guess what. There is nothing new under the sun. Jude wants us, in this section, to have no problem seeing through the veneer of people who are in church, not to build, but to divide.

We will have a thorough, heart-to-heart about identifying a series of destructive behaviors. Next week we will discuss how to keep ourselves safe, and what to do with dangerous people. You have to read it to believe it! SO...
