"What's Missing?" - Revelation 2:1-7

We begin the next section of the Book of Revelation: The Letters to the 7 Churches. The first, and most prominent of the cities represented is Ephesus.

You might know the name, since one of Paul's letters -- Ephesians -- was written to this church 30 years before John writes. This church has an amazing history and started really well.

Each of the seven letters follows a general pattern, with a prologue, a praise, a problem and a promise. The Ephesian church has so many good things going for it! But.....there is something missing.

Imagine buying a car.....a flawlessly polished exterior, new tires, great gas mileage, clean interior. You get in to take it for a drive and when you sit in the seat, you realize....something vital is missing! There is no steering wheel!!! The absence of the steering wheel really negates all the rest. What good is the car of you can't steer it, right!?

As Jesus assesses, the church, he mentions all the great qualities. But wait....there is something vital missing. Something without which they will not function properly.
