"Faith that Ends Well" - Heb 11:20-22

We are in the Hall of Faith as our author walks through the "faith-history" of the Jews.

After many verses recounting the faith and story of Abraham, we get one verse about Isaac, one verse about Jacob, and one verse about Joseph. And that will take us to the end of the Genesis record and into Moses and the Exodus.

Each of these men have noteworthy lives, and Joseph's story is central to the final third of the Book of Genesis! How does the author of Hebrews skip so much? Better yet, why does he focus on the events that he does mention?

What these three have in common is their confidence in the promises of God for the future. They make statements and take actions in the present moment -- on their deathbeds, in fact -- that reflect with confidence what they believe with absolute assurance about the future.

How did Isaac get tricked into blessing Jacob? What is the strange and hard-to-fulfill request of Joseph as he is dying? You know the drill... So,
