There is a new Bible Study beginning in January! This is a continuation of the women's "Studying the Word" Bible study. They will be going through a new book starting Tuesday, January 9th meeting from 1pm-2:30pm in the church basement.

This will be a "Digging Deeper" study using basic Bible study skills along with David Guzik's "Daniel Verse by Verse Commentary" which can be purchased on Amazon.

The next Morning Light is taking place on January 13th from 10am - 11:30am.

This is a monthly event open to all adult ladies. It includes a devotion, worship & praise music, fellowship, and food. Please bring a baked item to share such as cookies, brownies, etc. (Finger foods only...nothing that needs to be cut, plated and served.) Please consult our Weekly Announcements for special events and the occasional schedule change.

A new round of the ACTS 2:42 Dinners is being organized and will start in February. This is open to everyone, whether you're new to our church or have been coming since the beginning.

ACTS 2:42 Dinners provide an opportunity to meet, get to know, and form new friendships with others at Calvary Chapel Fluvanna. Groups will be formed from all those who sign up and dinners will take place once per month over 3-4 months. After this, a new sign up will take place for new participants as well as those who wish to continue ACTS Dinners. New groups will be formed and dinners will continue. Whether you're single, married, or have kids, all are welcome to sign up. Please scroll down to see "How It Works".

HOW IT WORKS:
Acts 2:42. ”And they continued steadfastly in the Apostle's doctrine, and fellowship, and in the breaking of bread, and in prayers”
Once sign ups are complete, small dinner groups will be created. Those who intend to bring children will be grouped with others who intend to bring children and those who are couples and singles will be grouped with other couples and singles. In other words, groups will be either adults only or adults with children.
Next, one family or person in each group, will be contacted by Rob Lane, to host the first meeting. The contacted person or family will then contact everyone in their group and coordinate a day and time to meet for the first month. Typically it is a Friday, Saturday or Sunday but any day that is acceptable for all is just fine. The decision is up to the group.
The host normally supplies the main course while the other families bring side dishes, dessert, etc. (No alcohol is to be served.)
At some point in the evening the group will decide who will host the next meal and determine a date.
Meals can be dinner at someone's house, a picnic at the park, a "go-dutch" meal at a restaurant , or whatever. It is up to the group to decide. The main idea is to meet others from our church fellowship and form relationships.

The evening women's Bible study is going to start going through the book of Proverbs on January 11th! This group meets at 7pm each Thursday. It meets in the Keswick area and is co-led by Margaret Estes and Patricia Castelli.

Lord, Teach Me to Study the Bible in 28 Days is a 4-week hands-on study that will transform the way you read the Bible. Together we will learn how to effectively study the Scriptures to unlock their meaning with this very practical daily devotional and class discussion. This class requires approximately 30 minutes of personal study each day of the week and is open to anyone 14 years and above.

Purchase your book and a 12-pack of basic colored pencils beforehand and bring these, a pen and your Bible to the first class meeting at 9 a.m. on January 21st in classroom 9 on the lower level. This study will meet on Sundays at 9 a.m. until February 18th.

A new session of divorce care is starting! It begins on Monday February 5th and will meet weekly on Mondays until May 6th.

On February 11th - 16th there will be a mission trip to Windsor, North Carolina through Carolina Rebuilding Ministries! During this trip, you will be helping rebuild houses that were damaged by hurricanes or have been neglected. Anyone age 14 and over is welcome to come! No experience is necessary, all you need is the desire to be the hands and feet of God. Basic skills will be taught to you while you are on the trip.

Housing and showers will be provided but we will need to do our own cooking. There will be a $100 fee to cover meals and drinks. We ask that you bring appropriate work attire such as sturdy shoes, long pants, coats, and sunscreen. If you have gloves, safety glasses, hammers, a pencil, or a tool belt it is recommended that you bring that as well. Bedding will not be provided so bring a bedroll of sheets, blankets, pillows, and fans if desired.

Friday night (January 5th) our Fighting Falcons basketball team will host a home game with Commonwealth Christian. The game starts at 6 PM. We hope to see you there!

This coming week our Fighting Falcons will have two road basketball games. On Tuesday, Jan 9th we will be playing a JV game with Piedmont Christian, and on Friday, January 12th we will be playing both a JV and a varsity game at West End.

This coming week we will have both a JV and varsity game this Friday, 19 January at Farmville.

Would you like to work on your projects with other creative people? Bring your craft, handwork, or art project with you for fellowship and fun! Your work could include painting, drawing, knitting, crocheting, coloring, sculpting, weaving...whatever it is you like to do! This group will meet at Helga Feden’s Studio space in Palmyra . Adults and youth ages 13 and up are welcome. Meetings will take place on the 3rd or 4th Friday of each month from 1:00pm-4:00pm. Be sure to stop by the Women's Table in the Fellowship Hall to sign up for the email list. This is an important thing to do so that you can stay informed of the schedule, as it will fluctuate!

As of today, we are offering a second section of Middle School Literature at 9 AM! This is the same class that is currently being offered at 12:30 PM (and is currently full). If you have already registered for the co-op but would like to add the newly added literature class to your child's schedule, please email Gabi Dech directly at gabi@ccfluvanna.com.

As of today, the class titled Great Little Words of Art is at capacity. You can still register for it and place your child on the waiting list, though.

Modern US & World History, which meets from 12:30 to 1:25 next year is now at capacity! Parents, if you want to register for it, your child will be placed on the waiting list. If space opens up, you will be notified.

As of this moment, Great Little Words of Art, which was at capacity, now has 2 spaces available!

As always, if you are interested in registering your child(ren) for a class that is already full, your child(ren) will be placed on a waiting list.

We just made a significant update which may affect parents of older students. Please note that Algebra IA has now been moved to the 9:30 AM extended period on Wednesdays, taking the place of Algebra I. On Mondays Algebra IA will meet from 9:40 to 10:55 AM. If anyone has questions about this or any math class offering, please email Gabi at gabi@ccfluvanna.com.

Please note that we have made a subtle yet significant update to the course description for PreCalculus with Trigonometry class: Wednesday morning’s class has an extended period blocked out for it, but it is structured so that new material will be covered from 8 to 8:55 am, and the last 30 minutes will be dedicated to independent classwork time with Mrs. Schmitz. This adjustment has been made so that if your child would like to enroll in the 9 AM Creative Writing class on Wednesday mornings, s/he will be able to attend it without conflict.
